Hi
I made it to Liberty Landing Marina in New York Harbor for Hurricane Irene. Marina is well sheltered from winds. Tidal surge in the harbor was about 8-10 ft. and the floating dock I was attached to had about 6 ft more to rise before it 'let go' of its dock.
Liberty Landing is within the NJ and federal parks ... so everything was shut down and evacuated until early monday last. I left my boat and headed back to home in Penna. The boat came through without a scratch, my house didnt.
At home many trees down, the creek that runs through my property dumped several hundred TONS of mud/debris over its bank, power/tel/cable lines down ... a real friggin mess.
But the good news is the boat's OK... and I just finished sailing her back to the Chesapeake this PM. (Lots of debris and heavy run-off in the Delaware Bay as the Delaware River is still close to flood but now dropping).
regards to all and hope that the present storms in the Gulf and out in the Atlantic bypass you all.
