Has anyone tried spraying a band of Vinyl Coat (or something similar) on the leech and foot of their RF headsail in place of sewn on acrylic? Someone at a sail loft mentioned that sailors in Florida were trying this but he didn't know if it was effective. Thanks! Ron

...and we have a bridge in Brooklyn we can sell ya. The only useful hint I've picked up in years is to slab suntan lotion on bungee cords that are exposed to the the sun. It really does work. If you can continue to get up to the leech of your jib and put lotion on it every time, perhaps that would work. Is it worth it to try to save pennies when hundreds of dollars are invested in a sail?:

303 Aerospace Protectant

Hi Ron, The product I think you are talking about is 303 Aerospace Protectant, it is available at West Marine and other suppliers. I have not used this product yet, but it is suppose to last about a year by just spraying on and letting it dry. Ben Allen Montgomery, AL "Latte Dah" O'Day 26

Ben. Thanks for the constuctive reply. The person I talked to said it was a paint used on inflatable boat fabric so I thought it might be vinyl paint or Hypalon paint. The subject came up when I mentioned that I hated to sew an extra layer of fabric on a light weight headsail I had just purchased. I'll give the 303 a try if I can't get info on the paint. Thanks again....Ron
