Now that winter is ending, I have started getting ready to put my boat in the water and decided to upgrade the wiring harness on my b 1985 Universal 18. I purchased an upgraded harness from Catalina Direct and began the change wire for wire when I found that the wiring on the old harness started to break away so that I had numerous wires hanging.
It got a bit confusiing and I realized that the only way to do this properly is to purchase a replacement 9 wire externsion harness from Seaward. The question I have is this: Is this wire replacement farily simple by folllowing the wiring diagram that they will provide or is there something that i must watch for? I believe that they recommend a replacement of the ammeter to a volt meter. Is this a simple job or am I about to get over my head. I am somewhat mechanically inclined but electrical work baffles me. Can anyone give me advise or encouragement?
