Headed back to BVIs for a 10 day bareboat the first part of June. It's been 12 yrs since I've been back. Has much of any anything changed? We did the Grenadines a few years ago and had a gas. I know after bare boating around the world that that BVI is probably #1 in popularity. What's changed in 12 yrs?
Thanks. Bob

From my experience in 5 years, there are more moorings and less anchoring, Pirates Bight has gone through a re-model, burn-down and now working to rebuild, Willy's stopped offering prizes for topless drunk women to jump from the top of the boat, definitely more crowded overall from our first trip.

Bob, my wife and I were in the same boat )pun intended). We chartered there about 15 years ago, and went back at the beginning of March this year. A lot has changed and it hasn't. There are more moorings, but you still have to get to some popular places kinda early to get a spot. There are more places to eat and enjoy at the anchorages now.

The Baths 15 years ago was literally a beach with huge rocks, and it was tricky with the surf and current to get in. Now there's a trail through the caves from the Baths to Devils Bay, and a place to get a drink or two on the beach. It was cool, and our 13 yo son and his friend had a blast.

We loved Spanish Town 15 years ago and loved it again this time. Mermaid Café was our favorite place, and breakfast at a little hole in the wall the next morning was a great experience.

Trellis Bay was a neat place - try to time it for the Full Moon party. We missed it.

We missed Anegada this time for lack of time (we were only there for 8 days), but will do that next time. (We went there 15 years ago and loved it.)

15 years ago we didn't make it to Jost Van Dyke, so this time we were determined to make it, and we did - for about a 2 hour shopping spree and a Pain Killer at the Soggy Dollar Bar. We spend more time there next time.

Our biggest lesson from last time which made this trip much more enjoyable was not to try to do EVERYTHING in one trip, especially if you're there for less than 2 weeks. Pick a few spots and take the time to enjoy them to the fullest.

We'll go back again!

Shoot me a pm and I'll give more of my opinions without jamming up the forum.
