This last July trip, my Niece fell in the water with a SOS inflatable vest on, at the dock at Ganges, BC, a little cold. The life vest she was wearing kept her from reaching far enough up to flip the ladder down so...... I flipped in down for her to get out.
She fell in the in water again at Squirrel Cove, BC while getting into her kyak...water alot warmer. This time she figured out how to deflate the vest so she could reach further to flip the ladder down with sucess ..... the ladder hit her shoulder and she had a small black and blue bruise.

Note: The SOS inflatable vests come with a spare co2 cartrige and you push down on the blow up tube valve to deflate vest.

So I again made some changes to the swim ladder but have not made any in water field tests.

The new safety rails, seat, rope handle and cover have been field tested work great.

Very nice ladder modification. Also just a good reminder to everyone you need to try to plan for the worst. I am not a skill so I have to lines that if I am in the water by mistake I can pull and the ladder comes down.

More Details please. It looks awesome

Paul
Can you provide more detail or pictures on this? How does the ladder slide out to deploy? Is it strong enough to support 230lb or so? Is the cover tethered or something to worry about later? What is the ring clip near the vertical riser?

Its exactly what I have been tying to work out for my 2001

Thanks
Peter

Nice Job

Paul, You have done it again. I like how it turned out. Was that a standard folding ladder like they have at WM and how did you secure the ladder and cover to the boat? I was thinking of something like this, but using the original attachment points as hinges and attaching everything to them.

To use the ladder you just pull it straight out and it folds down. Per Walt Whitman..... Easy peasy
The telescoping ladder is from WM.
I took the hinges off the ladder and discarded them but used the bolts and nylock nuts and washers to attach ladder to the slots that I ground into the length of Aluminum chanel.
For the cover I used 3/4" exterior plywood. Used waterproof glue to seal the plywood end grain then applied about 5 coats of paint.
For the stand offs under the cover I used 2" PVC pipe and secured them to the cover using 3M 4200.
I used 2" aluminum chanel and secured it to deck with #8 self-taping screws.
A tip: Keep 1/8" gap clearence between the edge of cover and the boat.
The boat expands and contracts alot from cold morning and hot afternoon.
3M nonskid tape.

How I attached the cover to the boat is patent pending.

Next project is mast gates.........
