I have a Cat 30'. I adjusted the linkage but still can't get it to "cluck" going into reverse. Any ideas?

By "cluck" are you saying it won't engage reverse at all? or you are just not hearing an audible chink when the gear changes?
It goes in reverse but it makes a wheezing noise and I am not sure if it is in reverse when it needs to be.
Have you checked the transmission fluid level? Get down to the engine itself and shift gears at the source and listen, this is easy to do on a C30. A lot of things you can't hear from the cockpit become much more obvious when you have your head down at engine level with it running. A lot of people even install starter switches on the engines so they can perform service work down below and eliminate the running back and forth to the cockpit dance.
