Greetings: I need some help in determining how to adjust the reverse gear on my 1979 Cat 27 with the venerable late model (s/n 203813) Atomic 4 Gasoline engine and a PARAGON OXKB Reversing Gear mechanism. I am not an engineer. I have the original booklet that came with her. I have read it many times and looked at the drawings, but it is still confusing to me. Should the adjusting be done on the hard or in the water? Are the adjustable items easily accessible after the REVERSE GEAR COVER is removed? Is this cover the (about6" x6") plate that sits horizontall on top towards the rear of the engine? What are the pitfalls/what to watch for? I have gotten such good help in the past, I feel that you folks can help me here. Thanx. Happy sailing, or dreaming about Spring.
