Looking for information and review of the Beneteau center board and twin rudder system. Understand the center board is lifted by a treaded rod system (no cables). Dealers and builder not very responsive to my inquiries ... Is this lack of product knowledge or lack of confidence in design? How does the centerboard system respond when it hits bottom? How stiff is the system? Is there a break away point to prevent serious damage upon impact? What metals were used to make the system? Any corrosion problems? Do the twin rudders need realigning? Is that easy to do? Upon impact how forgiving is the rudder system? Would love to see one of the boats but they do not bring them to boat shows. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Unless you really need this type .......

I have seen these boats but can't tell you how good the keel system is, except I read somewhere they have had problems with raising/lowering on early models. Is there some reason you would need this? I understand they were designed for dealing with mooring in tidal areas. I can't imagine they perform very well either, which would be my biggest concern.

Twin Rudders

Larry, I asked this question of the local B dealer and got pretty much the same response as you did. There are at least 4 B311s in the area and all are with standard keel. Only comment from dealer was that gunkholing and landing on the beach are not big in this part of the Gulf of Mexico, and std. keel will go most anywhere in these parts, so why add the complication. B311 Centerboard Info Source

Call 'The Anchorage' in CO @ 303-823-6601. Because of the trailerability of this type of keel, they often have a new B311 in stock, I think that they still have a used one listed as well. Thus, they should know about it.
