I've been considering purchasing the deck mounted retractable bowsprit used on the Hunter 216 to fly my assymetrical spinnaker during our local club races. I think it might speed up the launching and retrieval of the spinnaker by allowing me to lead all of the contol lines aft. Currently I have to go to the foredeck to set the tack on the furled jib. Has anyone else tried this? Any suggestions or comments? Thanks

Try this...

Here’s an easy-to-make bowsprit, seats in the anchor locker. This will throw the spin ahead of the main, less blanketing. Tack line and 2 sheets permanently deployed for quick setup. (Note that the link here has 2 pages of pix and directions.) Typo correction: Eyelet should be 3/8 inch. This bowsprit is designed for boats 29-32 feet, but you can adapt it by using only one pipe perhaps six feet long instead of eight. Flying a spin is the most fun on a boat, and looks great!

There is another thread going on in this forum that is covering that very topic. Its a good idea.
