Thanks for the replies to my inquiries on the purchase of this boat. I Took it on a test sail today and loved it, then the survey..... I cut the survey off early and canceled the purchase. Water had been caught outboard of the stringers running along the main bilge. This water had pooled for god knows how long and seeped through the fiberglass coating, the wood, and out the other side into the main bilge. Because of this, all the wood stringers were full of water. Because of this pooled water, whenever the boat healed over, the water splashed up to the underside of the floor, soaking that too. Basically, all the wood of the floor and the substructure in the main salon was waterlogged, with no non invasive way to check for the level of rot. To top it off, there was a constant trickle of water flowing from the port side pool into the main bilge. Was the boat sinking or the water tank leaking? No way to tell as there is no access. Just a note to all you other owners, check to see if you have the same problem. The design of the boat captures water in parts of the bilge, rotting out the timber floor and substructure. I am heartbroken, as I loved the boat, and now have to start the search from scratch again.....

Really sorry to....

hear about your poor survey, Kent. Same thing happened to me, cost me $500. to find out I shouldn't buy that first H37C. It was the better looking boat, had the 30hp Yanmar and matching dodger and bimini. But the f/g was full of moisture. There's a nice '82 in our marina but I think they are asking too much, around $40K. I've been on her and she looks really good. Has a medium blue full cockpit enclosure also. But so far away. Good luck in your search, don't give up.
