Well, I've got the wheel off the pedestal, and pedestal hanging from my bike stand. I went ahead and quickly removed the control handles (1983 h27). Any ideas how to restore the chipping crome/silver coating on the controls? It looks like brass underneath? Kevin in VT

Find a plater.

Kevin: Find someone that does chrome plating. You may not like the price, so if that is too expensive you can have them powder coated in the color of your choice.

Polished mine!

The control levers on the pedestal of my H37C were in poor condition. My solution was to buff off the chrome plating to a bright finish and then I clear coated it with lacquor. It look great, very nautical and unbelieveably CHEAP.

Coatings

Lacquer on bronze in salt air will last 1 to 2 years. Powder coat, once chippedmight go 3 to 5. Good triple chrome (copper, then nickle, then chrome shoukld get you 20 to 30 yesrs. Annapolis plating (Which I believe might be in Annapolis) specializes in marine equipment and what I saw of their stuff at the Annapolis show looked real good.
