The birds are afraid of the steamers that are attached to the broomstick. So there's no chance of them landing on it (unless there is absolutely no wind, which doesn't happen very often) Meanwhile as creatures of habit, they go to a boat night after night that doesn't have anything scaring them rigged up. Once they find you, you've got them for life! God they're awful birds!!!!!
