Thanks for the response on my technique for step/unstep of the mast. TT, I thought of lowering forward but had plenty of room to go back. I think you could still use the extension ladder technique from the bow, your big challenge will be how to secure the ladder to the bow of the boat so you can still lower & raise it. Even if you can't, it will still work well as a crutch to support the mast as you release the pin and slide it aft. Don- I'm looking forward to your data and photo's (if possible) on your table. The pic's of your salon showed me the bottom hinge set-up, my big curiosity is the type and placement of the hinges holding the two table-top halves together. Your help is greatly appreciated! piano hinge

It's a piano hinge all the way down the split. the leg is a "v" shape, that is also hinged into two halves. you open the leg up to support the fold out top. a tip: put a screw in the bottom of the leg, and a small recess in your bilge cover for the screw head to slip into. this will keep the leg from slipping on the floor.
