I recently purchased a 17' O'Day Daysailer, Daysailer 1 model, Hull #6663, class 1059, built in 1978. Unfortunately no written information on the boat was available from the prior owner and I have limited sailing experience. Are there any sources I can access to get manuals and/or information specific to this boat that would be of help in operating and maintaining the boat.

this website has a variety of information on the daysailer. You'll probably find most of the information, as I have with my daysailer. I have a 1966 model. I understand you can also go to D R Marine or Cape Cod Shipbuilders web sites for more information Have Fun with the boat. It is a good one for beginners and sometime sailors such as I. Good luck Gary

17' Daysailer Info

Dick, I was fortunate to get a wealth of information with my Daysailer II. I have the original operating and rigging instructions that came with the boat, as well as a 1978 parts/price list. I even have a list of the rigging specs for most O'Days made in that year. Would you believe I even have the O'Day "Have Fun Learning to Sail" booklet and the Sail Trim and Care guides provided by Neil Pryde with the boat? I would be happy to fax you the specs and parts lists. The rigging instructions, however have been abused (i.e. folded and taped). I am in the process of transcribing them and converting them to pdf format. I would be happy to send it to you when I finish. Russ Packham Daysailer II, 1978

Rod Johnson,

I have a DS II manual in book form

I have created a Day Sailer II Manual in book form that includes many more diagrams than the original O'Day supplied 2-sided sheet. It may not help a lot for a DS I, but ....I may try to create a DS I version too. Now, the hull# and Class number that you list is not a 1978 model. A 1978 model would be more like Class # 9,000-11,000 and would not be an O'Day since according to the Day Sailer Class, O'Day stopped making the DS I a few years earlier and sold the molds for the DS I to the Association in 1977. Another builder was found, I think it was Rebel? I think you have a 1965-6 Day Sailer I based on the number given.
