I am considering swapping out my Yanmar SB8 for a Yanmar 1GM10. Are there any surprises that I should anticipate?

I have a 1978 Hunter 27 with the SB8. I asked the local Yanmar folks about the same upgrade and was quoted $8000. Now THAT was a hell of a surprise

Spend some additional bucks and get a 2 cyl.

Tom: I would suggest that you go with a 2 cyl engine. You are not going to gain much with the 1gm (which I am not sure that they are any longer in production). If you plan on keeping the boat, you will appreciate the extra push.
