Just wanted to let anyone who is thinking about repowering a 27 foot Hunter that the Vetus 16 HP twin deisel I'm putting in appears to be a good fit. I'm going to try my old prop with this motor as it is almost a perfect match. H&H prop said that this would be a slight over prop of about 200 RPM. In other words this engines max RPM is 3,600 RPM and with the standard prop thats on the Hunter it may run 200 RPM's slower. Fired it up tonight using 5 gallons of water in a bucket as it is still on dry ground. Motor is self priming so it took right off. It fit realing good in old engine compartment. Motor mounts were lowered and the stairs were lifted 1 inch up and out 1 inch no big deal. The boat is going in this Friday. I'll get back with how she goes. Right now I can say its a hell of a lot quieter than the old Renault.

This may be the best deal going. Mine was repowered with a 10hp 2 cylinder Nanni (Kubota) and is nice but has a small alternator and hard to get marine adapted parts for at a reasonable price. Tell us as you go and after a season of use
