replacment of battery

Hope all of you are on the water today. It is just too hot in NY and working in this climate is like sailing in a hurricane.

I have to replace one battery on my 1980 Catalina 30 and the boat is out at the east end of Long Island as I cook in Nassau County. The battery box is located under the navigation table and I do not know the dimensions but I do want to bring a battery with me when I go out at the end of this week. Does anyone know if an Interstate 27 will fit. The 24 is 11 inches long and the 27 is 12 3/4. Will the 27 fit? I hate to make two trips.

too bad didn't see sooner, just left the boat. replaced both batteries recently and took note of the measurements, will check.

I imagine this varies from boat to boat. Mine had a 24 starter battery for the Outboard and a 27 for a house cell. I am making it 2 24's in parrellel with not starter just to make things uniform.

Battery boxes can be had for about $10 on Amazon or at your local Walmart so it really is a matter of taste.

Get a 24 and you can always stuff the box with a bit of foam if it is too small.
