I'm replacing my original transducer, and depth finder on my C-30. I don't know what is holding the transducer in. Someone said it might be in with 5200 adhesive, and it would be murder to get it out,and to drill another hole(I don't want to). It's a plastic transducer,in an '83 boat. I'm afraid to bouble my Gelcoat by heating it. Any suggestions on getting it out.

Heat it a little

Don't go overboard but if you're going to throw away the old transducer, heat it enough to soften it up. You could try the same on the inside but whatever you do, DON'T CUT ANOTHER HOLE IN YOUR BOAT! Remember that your hull is the only thing between you & Davy Jones' locker and the more holes you cut the better the odds that one of those holes will leak. If you have to, get a chisel & hammer to get that sucker out. Then, when you install your new transducer, use 4200 so you can get it out again if necessary. LaDonna

5200 adhesive

I just had to cut thru some of that 5200 adhesive and it wasn't fun. What worked best for me was a tapers knife (utility knife or a pad knife as carpet layers say). I had a sharpening stone and sharpened it a few times during the cut. It works but that 5200 is MISERABLE. Good luck..Gary

Use ISLAND GIRL (Pink) do soften 5200

Cut into the 5200 with a lino knife, and soak with ISALND GIRL (pink is OK and can be rinsed with water afterwards). Overnight soaking is best. the 5200 can even be cleaned off upholstery and clothing with this product. These effects were found by customers some years ago. I know this sounds like an ad but the products will work!
