Has anyone replaced the antenna and electrical wires on a Hunter 25.5? I am thinking about tackling the project this spring, and was wondering if the wires run through a conduit in the mast or are they packed in foam? How difficult of a project is this and should I do it myself or leave it to the boat yard guys?

Let you know.

I will let you know next week. I removed my rig this week and will be replacing all the wiring in the mast this weekend.

Go for it.

Completed mine this afternoon. The wires are loose inside the mast. If you remove the cap from the top and bottom of the mast and have the old wires to pull in the new ones it's a piece of cake. I had to use an impact wrench on the screws that hold the plate on the bottom on the mast, broke the heads off of two of then. Damn salt water. No problem to drill and tap though. any extra wiring

Bob, Did you run any extra wiring while you were in there and how hard was it to get to the steaming light wires? I would like to replace my mast wiring and add spreader lights while I am doing it. I am not sure when I will get a chance to do this though. Probably when I haul out to paint the bottom and change the cutlass bearing.

No extra wire

I did not run any extra wire while I was there. The masthead light wires were easy for me because I was replacing the steaming light. I drilled out the pop-rivets holding the light and the wire comes through a large hole behind the light. I replace the steaming light with one that has a holagen lamp in the bottom for illuminating the deck. You may want to do this instead of spreader lights. I would remove the top and bottom of the mast for access inside. This makes it much easier. Good Luck.

foredeck light

Does the foredeck light stay on while you are mtotring and does it blind you at all? Just curious because it would be easier to do. Thanks, Dan
