Replacing the scupper on my Hunter 14

Replacing the scupper on the transom of my Hunter 14, the 4 screws were pretty corroded, so I replaced them with SS screws that were just a touch larger. They didn't seem to get any "bite", but I had applied silicone, so I didn't want to remove it right away. Should I go with larger screws? Thanks!!

I would go with next larger metric or SA screw.
