I have removed the compression post, and the trim, and am now trying to remove the rusty I-beam from the bilge. Can anyone explain to me how it is attached to the bottom of the bilge and how I can chip it out? thanks

Wow Clean Bilge

Wow, what a clean bilge. My mechanics just drained all the oil from my engine in to my bilge when they changed the oil lines! Unfortunately I am in the Bahamas, where we have beautiful oceans and beaches, but are allowed to pump anything in to them. I have my bilge pump off and will add some strong detergent and pump it in to a bucket. Anyway I like the way you fitted a shower sump in, what make is that as the ones I looked at would not fit. Anyway I am planning on having a stainless I-beam welded. I am looking at extending the I-beam up to the floor level and through the piece of plywood so the compression post actually sits on the I-beam and not the plywood.

ibeam

I had a SS 1/4" made and installed it in mine. 1978 Hunter 30. I used WM apoxy to lock it in place. I came up under the flooring. Adj the Ibeam hight so all the pressure was on the Ibeam and not on the plywood flooring.

How did you get the old one out? My boat is still in the water so I want to be careful with the grinder!!

Help!!

I really need to get this I-Beam out. Can anyone help me who has removed it before? If not I will just have to attack it with the grinder!
