Noticed that the furling line for our jib is beginning to fray at certain locations. The frayed part sometimes get's caught in the pullies and furlers, making it tough to unfurl the jib at times... How difficult is it to replace the line? Is this something that can be done without the manufacturers help?

Furling line replacement.

You don't mention the manufacturer but it's quite easy on mine. With the jib furled there are still several wraps of line on the drum. If you loosen the jib sheets you can continue pulling the furling line until there are no wraps left. Now that line should be easily detachable from the drum. On mine it goes up through a hole in the top of the drum and has a "stopper" knot in it. Put the new line in the same way, pull on the jib sheets to re-wrap it, all done.

Another Possibility...

Jim, you might have the continuous line furler. Thus, an end to end splice. There were some old posts on this procedure. However, a rigger should do it fast and cheap; one on my dock had it done recently. RD
