I purchased the replacement Teleflex MV2 unit from sailboatowners.com and ran into difficulty trying to install it on my H376. It seems that I could damage the cables due to insufficient clearance when I try to insert it into the opening (which I enlarged per the instructions). Does anyone with a H376 have any tricks to get the replacement unit to fit? I was thinking that I may need to take the top portion of the helm station off.

I haven't bought a new cable yet, but is the 18 foot one the correct size (per the sailboatowners website)? Hopefully, this will improve the difficult shifting that I have had with the original Teleflex unit unit.

Hunter had a recall on that cable in the 376 about 13 years ago because of hard shifting. They had a procedure to reroute it so that it would use a cable about 3 ft shorter and a less convoluted path. Hunter supplied the new cable free. I used a better quality, slipperier, cable; it had a red jacket. With it, it shifted easily for many years. I don't remember the details.

The cables we sell as replacements are the upgraded model, and we recommend replacing the old ones with them when you change out the shifter. We've heard that the old cables have trouble with the tighter radius.
