i seached the forum and online and can find no help.
found alot of arguments about what is better acrlic, polycarbonate or plexiglass.
I am not really interested in what is best but in what is easiest to work with.
will i have to heat the material on a form to get the origonal shape ?
or will a flat sheet work.
and will forward trim pieces need to be removed to slide hatch out rearward?and how are these pieces fastened because i see no fasteners .
Am hoping another hunter 22 owner can help that has had this work done.
thanks

I used grey tinted 1/4 inch Lexan from the local glass co. Sadly I wasn't able to duplicate the original bubble, but until you mentioned 'flat sheet' I had forgotten the bubble was ever there. As I recall, the front stop on the hatch was removed to slide it out. The screws are probably hidden under wooden plugs.

LDM are you saying that you used a flatsheet? if so does it function ok with origonal retainers ..
when i looked it over it appeared to me that a flat sheet may bind.
If i cannot use a flat sheet i planned on using some fiberglass repair sanding it as smooth as i can ,and on top use some black limo tint to hide the repair

Yes, I just used a flat sheet. When you attach it to the arched wooden pieces it will conform to the proper shape. Clamp the center first and then pilot drill & screw progressively out to the edge. The screw heads will need to be countersunk into the Lexan so the matching wooden strip will fit.

I went ahead and used fiberglass repair, did not come out exactly as i hoped, but will suffice.and went with painting instead of tint
