Mine has not broken yet but after quite a few seasons am wondering if it would not be prudent to replace it before it breaks. Does anyone know that when the keel is lowered is the rope easy to see. For I thought "if" it is then I might be able to simply splice on the new one and drag it up through all the pulleys or whatever is there and re-tie to the keel. Any advice or ideas always welcome.

Have Bad News For You
Unless the 260 is dramatically different from mine the centerboard must be removed in order to replace the pennant. Removal is easy, perhaps too easy just remove bolt and let gravity do the rest. When I did mine we used the travel lift and to replace it we lowered the boat onto the trailer while I guided the bracket into the slot with the whole assembly on the center bunk.

I just bought a 03 H260 and was thinking of changing the line to the centerboard too. My boat is on a dealers trailer and I bought a new trailer and was thinking of changing the line too. I sure hope there is a way. The dealer will charge 50 bucks to use his lift

If your boat is only 2 years old I wouldn't sweat it. Focus your efforts on other items. Like sailing it and having fun. My swing keel rope is 11 years old to the best of my knowledge and it functions properly. I am thining about doing it next year. Where did you get your trailer?

I got my new trailer from the Hunter factory in Alchoa, Florida. They were really great. Very nice people. I called the factory and they set me up with a new trailer.

visible up haul rope
Hi Mark, If you have dive gear it should not be a problem. I've not replaced mine but probably need too. Lift the swing keel up about a foot while under the boat and the line is very visible. I'm not sure how easy it would be to get to on the trailer. Maybe threading through from the top down would be an easier approach?

My hope is
that I will be able to dive under, locate the rope, join on the new one and pull through???

We've done it-- twice!
Check the archives, we explained how it worked for us 3 years ago. I don't think you can do it without removing the centerboard and bracket under the dinette table. You can't get to the opening from below with the board on. Check with Hunter, they will give you the correct advice. Hoist is the way to go. IMHO
