I need to replace the oval ports in the aft cabin and head on my 88 Legend 35. I would appricate some feedback on whether to stay with the oval, and were to find them, or change to rectangular ports. Thanks for the advice Dale Bailey

I did it.

This past summer I replaced the oval hull port on my 1988 L37. A dog had broken at the base. I bought the port from Pompannette in NH(www.pompannette.com). Replacement took about an hour. Having someone on both sides made the job a lot easier. Be sure to seal it well (I used lifecaulk). Do NOT use 3M5200 because it's permanent. Cost was about $100.

What size, Paul

Thanks for the info Paul. I need to replace the oval ports on my '88 35 as well. Do you know what size and/or part number you used? Thanks.

Call them

Your best bet would be to call them. They are called "elliptical" ports and have different sizes. They can fax you the page from the catalog. Measure (x,y) of your port lens, trim ring (inside and out), outside frame and the opening and they will walk you thru the order process. You'll also note that the screw positioning has now changed, so a full replacement may be necessary. They were very helpful to me. I also ordered a screen for the forward hatch and they knew exactly how to measure it.

Screen Part Number

Don't have the port part number handy (it's here somewhere - took the catalog out of the boat binder), but the screen part number is GS616--28 and it says it is a "Screen for 616". Finding the port in their catalog was not easy.

It comes with a screen

The elliptical port that I bought last summer came with a screen as part of the package. The screen that I referred to in the previous post was for the forward v-berth hatch.
