Replacing Odorsafe hose with PVC...

While replacing all of our sanitation hoses this autumn, we decided to insert a section of PVC between the holding tank outlet and a point in the Odorsafe pump out line even with the top of the tank. In this manner, we will be eliminating the permeation risk from having sewage sitting in Odorsafe hose. The Odorsafe hose has a 1.5"ID. I have discovered, however, that there does not appear to be standard 1.5" OD PVC stock. Since I plan to use a short section of Odorsafe as the elbow from the tank fitting, the PVC section will be connected at both ends to the hose, connections that have to be well fitted. Any suggestions?

Maybe this will work

Not sure if this is what you will want to do but this is what I'm doing for transitioning from PVC to san hose. I'm using a 1 1/2" PVC to 1 1/2" Female pipe thread fitting (available at any plumbing department) with a 1 1/2" male thread to 1 1/2" hose barb. Screw the hose barb fitting into the PVC pipe fitting and you're set. Somewhat bulky but it should work. See link below for the hose barb fitting. http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|51|106370|316448|315123|567961&id=567840

Worth mentioning...

Every now and then, an event occurs that is worth mentioning. AER Supply, a marine equipment and supply house in Seabrook, TX, has once again demonstrated superior customer service. You may recall my posting several weeks ago regarding the permeable nature of so-called "impermeable" hoses. Five years ago, AER Supply had sold me the Odorsafe hoses to refit my then-rancid hoses. Five years later, the new hoses had permeated. Admitting that experience had since proven that these hoses were resistant but not impregnable, they replaced all my hoses free of any charges. Now, with my most recent issue regarding connecting a section of PVC into my pump-out line, I went back to AER Supply. They not only have all the necessary adapters and couplings to accomplish my ends, they have volunteered to send me the preassemble elbow and piping leaving me only to connect the assembly to the tank and the remaining pump-out line. Again, the labor and materials to do this job are being provided free of any charges. The representative with whom I have been dealing is named Phillip. You can see now why I think this event is worth mentioning.
