a.I want to install a new support bracket for my 4 stroke motor on my transome. Anyone know if an 80 lb heavy aluminum "Gul Wing" bracket, or a 2 spring Catalina tubular steel bracket will fit the same hole spacing as the original on my '86, Catalina 22'? b. The bolts holding the old bracket are Phillip round heads. Can I just put vice grip pliers on a large Phillp screwdriver and unscrew them like big wood screws, or are they actually bolts with nuts, and do I have to cut a hole through the back of my cockpit to reach in to unscrew the nuts?

I did it on my San Juan 21

I had to drill new holes becuase they line up. I could get to the back of the trasom from the 1/4 berth. I didn't like working back there but it is better then cutting a hole in the cockpit.
