Has anybody replaced the lower rudder bearing on one of the circa 1990's Hunters? I have a 1991 Passage 42 and need to replace mine. The Hunter drawing shows that it is threaded both right-hand and left-hand at 2 threads per inch, and 1/32" deep. (I haven't gotten the replacement bearing yet, but anticipate having it built to the same specification). I know I can cut out the old one, but am wondering how to install the new one, since it is threaded in both directions (presumably to prevent rotation in the housing).
Has anyone done this before? If so, what did you do?
Thanks for any info.
