Has any 310 owner done this? Where did you get the materials? Any website links to info? Or any old threads anyone knows about...I couldn't find any relevant threads.

Thanks,
Jim

I just replaced the lifelines on my C30. Got the kit from CD. It took me about three hours total. The new arraignment of putting the pelican hook at the forward end of cockpit is a big improvement. I priced out everything beforehand and found I would only save less than a $100 dollars under CD's price, so I went for the kit. The only thing that makes it a pain is the manual crimper. Each joint takes 5 crimps so its time consuming.

Thanks Doug. What is CD? The kits sounds like the right thing for me.

Doug,

Thanks. I actually had Catalina Direct bookmarked but I had never ordered anything from them and had forgotten about it. I will give them a call about 310 lifelines.

Apparently they must be made from a combination of platinum and a special compound made from the remains of ancient meteors that have impacted the earth.

Cheers,
Jim

I know- anything made of metal today is outrageous. The crimp fittings/turnbuckles is what seems to add up. Four pelican hooks alone are close to $200

The CD kit isn't that expensive compared to all the effort and associated costs of locating and procuring all the parts. Particularly if the closest serious boat store has a courier logo on the bag. :)
I just did mine with the CD kit, and the only other option was the newfangled rope option, but I'm not good enough at splicing to attempt the hi-tech line.

No, I got the coated ones. I thought about the rope option, but making loops that small in line that hard to work with was too much. Maybe next time :)
