Replacing in mast furling for lazy jacks?

On my year 2000 Hunter 340 I have jammed the mainsail in the furling mast twice recently. The first time I broke an internal part in the mast and opps, the part cost $700.00 USD. Then it got stuck this week while furling it in in 25 knot winds. Yes, I was heading into the wind. Can't get it out. Called the rigger to work his magic. So...has anyone changed out from having a roller furled in the mast mainsail to the old style of raising the sail up the mast and capturing the dropped mailsail in lazy jacks? Using in the boom furling won't work as I understand that the mast needs to be replaced.

Sailmaker

Why not a new sail maybe the sail is worn out and needs replacing.
Get a sailmaker to come to the boat and see what he says.

Ken, Like Nick says, I would have the sail checked. Also check the adjustment of the luff extrusion. I've only had a jammed sail once in the 6 years I've owned my boat due to the locking tube retaining screw backing out. I've furled the main in 35 knot winds without a problem. I currently have a partial battened main that actually furls easier then the original sail that came with the boat.

There are lots of posts on here about furling mains with good suggestions.

$$$$$$

Way too much $$$$ to try and do what you want and so get a good sailmaker
that has made a new inmast sail come to the boat, look here in search for others who have done this and the recommended sailmaker.
