My husband bought this boat last fall. Of course on my first voyage I mess up the head. So we want to replace it with an electric head. We have a Jabsco manual #29090 and were looking at a Wilcox Crittenden #1235563-WILCO37006. Is this an appropriate replacement?

First a question or two...

What exactly did you do to mess up the head? I'm asking because electric toilets aren't user-proof either. Which brings me to my next question: WHY do you want an electric toilet? if you expect one to be as maintenance-free and clog-proof as the home at home, they aren't. Plus, they're noisy and they consume a bit of power. So, you may be better off replacing it with a better quality manual toilet. To answer your question....The Wilcox Newport isn't the best choice in electric toilets...even Wilcox admits it has some issues they haven't been able to solve. The Raritan SeaEra is the most reliable durable electric macerating toilet in its class...and also costs less than the Newport. You might also want to check out the link below...it'll take you to a comprehensive "marine santitation 101 for dummies" manual that should help you learn to prevent future problems.

Thank you!

Bless you! It was nothing horrendous! Simply 1 square of regular toilet paper(since replaced with the biodegradable stuff). A friend told us that our's was old and cheap and should be replaced with a better one. What do you think of the Raritan PH-II manual? Who it be better than the SeaERA? I'm ordering the book. John

It only took ONE sheet of TP to clog your toilet??

That's hard to believe, even for a Jabsco...'cuz any marine toilet should be able to swallow at least 5-6 sheets of quick-dissolve TP. So while I definitely agree that replacing it is an excellent idea, I think you may have other problems...So just exactly what happened...in detail? The Raritan PH II is a manual toilet--rated the best manual toilet under $500 for several decades. For your boat, it would be an excellent choice IMO. Glad you're ordering the book. 'Cuz not only should it be useful to you, but sales of it and everything else from the online chandlery here pay the bills to keep this site up.
