Well it seems as though I'm going to put the boat on the hard in order to repaint the bottom and while I'm at it, I wanted to replace the speed log transducer that is in the thru hull in he forward cabin. I believe that the old transducer is about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. I want to replace it with the Raymarine P319 transducer which is compatible with my e7d. However this transducer is 2" in diameter. Can I simply enlarge the existing thru hull? Has anyone replace the older transducers with newer larger ones up front? Thanks... Jon

I think you have a speed wheel and a depth transducer? I am not familiar with the P319, but I wonder what the equipment configuration is.

Your right splax.. I have both, however according to the PO the speed wheel died several years before I purchased the boat. The depth transducer still works, so I thought I would leave that in as a backup up and use the speed wheel's thru-hull. -Jon

I am considering doing the same thing, I have a thru hull fitting from my old Kenyon speed
transducer. A site recommended by Garmin because it gives you all transducer options and dimensions is airmartechnology.com

What not put in a DST800P-A yes more $$$$$ but it does speed, temp, depth
for ST60.
I just did it and you can even remove it when in water for cleaning,:eek:
yes it can be removed and a plug goes in it place but :eek::eek:water does come rushing in and need to be fast and will try using a rag or towel to cover while making the change over.
My older speed transducer had a flapper to help keep so much water from rushing in but this one does not.
I think it the DST800P-A was $205.00.
