At 24" high and 32.2" in length it's going to be a tight fit, and that's without the sound shield. Keep in mind that a blower assisted air source will also be needed to cool the generator end as it is not water cooled as is the FP.
Our boat came with an 8KW Onan Cummins (three cylinder Kubota diesel tractor engine) Genset that is sea water cooled. Does a wonderful job for our extended cruising needs. A bit noisy, but tolerable. Never run it at night, just a couple of hours every other day to heat water, some cooking and topping off the house bank.
I don’t understand why you would put in something other than the FP?
The boat was designed for it, and with reasonable maintenance if performs beautifully.
also, the gas water separator & sound shield make this silent running when you’re in the cockpit,
The genset was sized for all 3 airco units running plus charger / inverter.
Going to a unit of half the output doesn’t sound like a good plan.
The FP unit isn’t inexpensive, but it’s a high quality genset
