I'm a new to sailing and just purchased a 1985 fixed keel C 22 in September. It came with an original (non-working) Landmark depthsounder mk272 and knotlog mk275 by Signet Scientific. I want to replace both and would like some suggestions on manufacture, model #, price and where to purchase. Help is appreciated. Mike

My solution

I have a 1986 fixed keel C22 and could never get a depth guage to work. Locating the trasducer was the problem. The fixed keel is long along the hull and has fairing material along the sides. Shooting trhough all of that with an inside transducer never seemed to work and going further forward or outward made the readings too skittish. I ended up going with a hand-held depth sounder (looks like a flshlight) which mets my needs just fine for our lake. If I'm worried about the depth I just poke the thing in the water, press the button and have the reading. It also measures the water temperature. I bought a reconditioned unit from Norcross for $75. Solution on the depthsounder

Randy, Thanks for the reply. My transducer is located forward of the keel, if I remember corectly. I think I could access it from about the middle of my v-berth through a storage spot ( folowing the wires from back of the unit). Mike
