I am trying to find replacement lenses and fixtures for the port and starboard nav lights for my 74 H25. Anyone have any suggestions? It has the nice recessed lights that have eyeball shaped chrome plates with a recessed half sphere lens that is set from inside. They are set in the huss below the toerail. Lens is 1 1/4" diam. I see them on lots of older boats, but can't find the parts. I hate to abandon them and put something ugly up above, but one does need to have lights.

Been there done that

Bob, I have replace the colored lenses (both green and red) due to the fact that over the years that had faded to the point where the red was almost clear. The lenses are a standard Perko lense. I got mine from Mike's Marine Supply in St. Clair Shores, MI. Phone Number is (586) 778-3200. If you have trouble finding a set, you might call Mike's. Last time I was there, they had several sets.

Has anyone........

...installed docking lights where the original port/starboard lights are, and installed the Coast Guard approved new style red & green combo light on the pulpit? Seems like a worthwhile upgrade to me.

To Bob Tucker...

Look on ebay, currently there is a set of running lights that look an awful lot like my side lights on my Hunter 25 and they only want 32.99 for them! Good luck. Mark

Port & Starboard bow lights

1. Defender Marine carries a very nice set of these teardrop-shaped hull lights (see p. 108 of current catalogue). Best of all they are stainless steel and not chromed Zamac or some other cheapo crud. In restoring my H25 I am just replacing the sockets in the lighting fixture although the lenses are pretty bad too... might be worth it to change them over myself. At $22.29 for the set it's like a no-brainer. 2. My understanding of the lighting laws is that the in-hull bow lights are still legal. I have the NJ Boating Safety handbook which cites the Navigation Rules International-Inland code. It is explicit that the in-hull original-equipment lights are considered a direct equivalent to the above-deck combo lights. There is NO reference to any conditions on them. JC 2
