Catalina 30 great neck, ny
After a very long and rough winter, my boat was put in the water and I found that the batteries need replacement. They did not last long and I am wondering if there are some better than others to power my Catalina 30 that has a Universal diesel and a reasonable amount of electronics.

You have to shop around. I found the best deal on wet cell 130 ah batteries at American Battery, part of the US Group of batteries. Wal Mart and other big box stores often have good ones.

One of the key reasons that batteries don't last long: they are either under or over charged all too often. Undercharged: come back from a day sail and don't plug in for a while. Overcharged: left on float all the time.

If it's a charging problem, that can be fixed with a good charger.
