One of the remaining items on the punch list for "EmmieLou," my O'day 322, is to replace the engine stop cable and, in the process, relocate the pull knob from its current hiding place inside the portside lazarette to a more accessible spot. I plan to cut a new hole at the base of the port cockpit seat, just above the footwell, and anchor the knob end there. (This way I can shut down the engine without having to ask the unsuspecting guest -- or worse, my wife -- "Would you mind getting up for a sec?") What I'm stumped by is how exactly to anchor the knob, and at the same time put some sort of finish treatment on the newly cut hole so it's not just a raggedy looking rough fiberglass edge. The floor is now open for suggestions. Pete s/v EmmieLou (O'day 322) Little Silver, NJ

Pete, I mounted my stop cable on a substantial

block of white oak that covers the hole on the bulkhead.
