I just completed replacing the Jabsco electric head on Good News, and the associated plumbing. Rather than repeating the gory details here, I'll refer you to a link to the blog I posted with pictures on the project. You can read it at

One issue won't be a surprise: when I shopped around for a replacement pump, or repair, the estimates were higher than the cost of a manual pump head, and could have gone as high as the electric head, assuming i did the work myself.
I did, and it was time consuming.
I was able to get a very good buy at West Marine by waiting for a sale.

Also, I replaced all but a small section of the pipes. My wife was much happier with that, and so was I once I examined the buildup inside the outflow pipe!
I know you can clean these by pounding them on the dock, but my dockmates would probably have run me off the Bay.

Cheers,

Thanks Sanders, a very enjoyable tale about a really unsavory project. Love the end result, picture of sailing on THE Bay.
