Replacing a Boom

I've located a 46' mast as a replacement for the storm damaged original. I must now build and rig a Boom. Do any of you salts know the dimensions/ ratio or size I need for a functioning Boom. Can a Z spar be used? This is definitely a worthy project.That is All.

New mast

Just a quick note, I own a 1984 H34 Purchased it 2 years ago, it was dismasted before I owned it. The previous owner replaced it with a 33.5 fractional rig. It is actualy taller than the 34 rig, it looks graet, sails graet, and have had no problems, I have not tried to do any racing, don't know what it will do to the perf.Good luck.
