I'm a newbie to boat ownership and haven't sailed for years. A year ago I purchased a 1993 36' Hunter Vision. Love the boat (well admiral does and that was more important) but it has a wicked prop walk, poor performance under power in any kind of wind and unsure if speed under power with little wind is reasonable (We are lucky to hit 4.25 knots at 3200).

Current 2 blade prop is 18 x 10. Cannot afford a folding prop but would at least like to try a fixed 3 blade. Any suggestions from other Vision owners? Or a recommendation of where to go for advice in the Toronto area?

Recommend that you take all your specs to a prop shop and let the professionals offer their advice. Existing prop dimensions, engine size and horsepower ratings, boat displacement, etc.

Belle-Vie came equipped with a fixed three blade. Just love it. I use the prop walk to my advantage when maneuvering her. It helps to know how your boat responds to different maneuvers.

Our three blade pushes our boat to seven knots with an 1,800 engine RPM. That is our normal cruising RPM. We could go faster, but...
