Replacement window rubber

Hi All

Late-ish last year there was a spate of postings enquiring about
replacement window rubber. I gathered that one or more members were
considering getting together to buy a full roll and then sharing it
out.(this was in the UK)

Did anything come of this plan? I did express interest at the time but
heard nothing further. The rainy season is now upon us and 'Little
Star' is almost as wet inside as out. I will be in the UK (Surrey)
last week of February and would very much like to pick up replacement
rubber and sealing strip while there. I cannot justify buying a full
roll as there is no one else here with a Vega and the weight would use
up too much of the airline allowance - especially as the wife insists
on buying luxuries like new bedsheets etc.

Failing this, is there anyone who would be willing to share the cost
of a full roll with me? I estimate it will take about 10m per boat
(correct me if I am wrong Steve) and Steve tells me the rubber comes
in 50m rolls at a price of £100 - £150 so if I can find 4 or 5 people
in the same situation, even if they don't intend doing the work
straight away, the cost per boat will be reasonable.

Cheers

Hi David

Only thing I can do is to get teh VAGB to buy a full roll and locking strip and hope someone else will buy some more. I will also get some fitting tools but you will have to source sealant locally. Shouldnt be a problem as Im sure others will need window rubber in the near future. Be aware this is for Series I and Series II Vegas only, not the Series IIIheers

Hi Steve

That would be good. I will also need the special tool. There is still
3+ weeks to go before we arrive in the UK so hopefully you will have
some interest from other Vega owners before then to help make the
purchase worth while. Will contact you off Group to arrange payment
and delivery.

P.S. Still raining here. My bilge pump is working overtime

Hello David,

I am still searching for an affordable supply of seal for my Series 3 Vega. I bought the wrong stuff last year (it was for a Series 2) but fortunately I was able to resell it to someone who could use it. For what it is worth, I have uploaded to the Vega site (once I have figured out how to do it) a couple of pictures of the two different seals in the hope that it will help you to get to the correct type.

Best regards,

Clint Edmonds

Steve, just wondering what the cost difference is between the
replacement rubber and your more rugged replacement windows?
