I have a 30' Hunter that did not come with the forward v-berth cushions. Who sells basic cushions at a reasonable price? Currently I have a $700 quote and that seems high for foam and cotton... (I just bought a nice leather couch for my den that cost $1000).

High but true.

V-berth cushions for $700. does sound high. But only if you have never priced boat cushions before. Salon, cockpit, whatever, they all are too expensive. Get lots of estimates first. Having spent a couple winters repairing canvas and making my own bimini I now know that I could make my own cushions. In fact I am in the process of making new covers for my cockpit cushions. I rely on a book entitled "The Big Book of Boat Canvas". Chapter 29 is "Interior Boat Cushions". Just one possibility.

Price of boat cushions

You could expect to pay around $24.00 to $26.00 per foot for welted interior boat cushions. New 4" foam. Basic Sunbrella or similar fabrics. You have to remember. This is not massed produced work. Your cushions should be custom made for your boat. By the way $700.00 does seem in line Steve Liberty Sail and Canvas Loft PS. Your $1000.00 leather couch will not hold up very well on a sailboat

US Yacht Cushions

US Yacht cushions had very reasonable deals on complete interiors a few years ago. You may want to contact them. I believe that a complete interior for a H30 was about $900. One thing you want to do is make sure that whoever makes your interior is familiar with the marine environment. Things like mold/mildew protection for the foam and fabric as well as nylon zippers etc etc.

Get an estimate

Get an estimate from one of the boat cushion companies. We replaced all of the cushions in our 1980 H30 a few years back - new fabric and new foam. It was about 6 years ago but each large cushion throughout the boat cost about $200. Some were a little more and some a little less. We used JSI, now SailNet. They may still have the patterns on hand and can give you an estimate. BTW - don't get the "top of the line" (hard) foam for the v-berth. It is just too hard to sleep on comfortably.

replacement of Vberth cusions

I just had new foam put in my covers for my 1979 30 hunter V berth. Costs me $500. That included them stuffing the salon seats also. Only had to buy new foam for the V berth. I washed my covers. That foam is expensive 4inch.
