Replacement Temperature Sender for the M15 5411 Atomic?

Hello,

I recently went through the process of testing the gauge and sending unit on my 1981 Catalina 27 with a Universal Atomic 4 Diesel Model M15 5411.

I believe the sending unit needs to be replaces since the ohms range is way lower than it should be per the specs.

The original part number per the spec sheet is 299066. I believe I found one place that has them at $80+.

Does anyone know of the modern equivelant to this sending unit?

Most sending units run in the $10 - $30 range and I would love to find a more affordable option to use going forward. The range listed in the spec was 33 - 240 ohms and it is a single wire type.

Thanks for any suggestions. I did go by an Advance Auto Parts just to see if I could match up the size but they seem to be bigger or smaller than the threads used.

if it is 33-240 ohms then it is a standard auto temp sensor. just find one that has the right threads and your golden. Also check for physical clearance, ie can it actually fit into the hole and not hit anything, and be tightened. some are pretty small and you might not be able to get a wrench on it due to it being "down in a hole."
