Does anyone know where I can purchase replacement rubber pads under the cockpit seats on my 1984 Hunter 31? Mine are dried out and need to be replaced. I also need to replace the plastic hook and loop fastners on the bottom of the teak hatch over the emergency tiller.

...from Hunter - exact replacement. I first tried Home Depot and they were a bit thin. I tried them and they deteriorated within the season. Hunter's have withstood 3 years, now. And they didn't cost too much either. But check Home Depot for the fasteners. Or else a crafts shop.

of them for about $10 at McMaster Carr in Atlanta. Go to the link below and type in this part # 9540K16 (Recessed Bumper). They are 1/2" hight same as original, but 3/32" less in diameter, but they work just fine. Hunter wants .49 cents each for them. You can sell some to friends in the marina. Do not get the ones with a washer, it will rust.

Rubber Pads
Steve, I posted this last year and it completely solved the problem. Those supplied fail with monotonous regularity. I got some rubber sheet 1/8" thick and cut pieces 1" wide x 3" long and glued them into a stack with contact adhesive. First I put a lump of Blu Tak onto the places next to the existing buffers and closed the locker lid. The compressed height of the Blu Tak showed me the required number of layers of rubber. Then I just glued it in position on the locker lands. Problem solved - forever.

Or you could buy some of those round, white rubber bumpers at your local hardware store. Got some for our H31 sliding cockpit hatch and locker lids a couple of years ago. Works for me. Cheers.
