Just spent weekend "not-sleeping" on 12 year old stock "rear sleeping area" pad. Vowed to spend some money in order to get restful sleep on next cruise. Anyone have a lead on where to purchase "comfortable" mattress suitable for confined rear berth of the 26S? Thank you, Jeff

Futon

We removed the stock pads and replaced them with a queen size futon mattress, it fits in the rear compartment with room to spare.

Thanks for Futon suggestion

Thank You Brian, Glad to know a "queen" will fit there. I will start my search now. Jeff

Try Queen Air Mattress

An air mattress should work great in there. Very comfortable, and stows easily, allowing for extra storage. A rechargeable pump is cheap and blows up the mattress in a minute or so.

Walmart

I bought my matress form Walmart for about $125. It is high density foam with "memory" foam on top. One caution: the thicker the matress, the less room between your face and the overhead. I put a set of opening portholes in the cockpit well to alleviate feelings of claustrophobia. My wife and I call the footwell (where it intrudes in our sleeping area) Bertha, as it tries to keep us seperated from each other, like an old time bedboard. When camping, there is nothing like slipping into a bed with sheets and pillowcases, when you are wet and cold. John S Boise
