I'm looking to replace my original ports on my S2 9.2A, where can I find them?

Port info

The bathroom port is a Beckson. Rumor has it that they stashed a few. I suggest you call them. The fixed ports are just bronze acrylic. See the 13 page letter from S2 on how to install. You just need to make templates and get them cut at a glass shop or cut them youself. The link to the letter is:

Note that the S2 letter uses the terms Lexan and plexiglass interchangeably and incorrectly. Plexiglass is acrylic and lexan is polycarbonate. The forward hatch and companionway hatch are probably acrylic, based on information from www.selectplastics.com whom I have contacted regarding forward hatch replacement. The side fixed portlights could be lexan, which is more flexible.

I had spoken to Select on the phone last year and tried emailing them for a quote a couple of weeks ago. I will call them next week.

If anyone needs a forward hatch for a 9.2 speak now for the potential quantity discount or forever hold your peace! On their site it says to mail them your hatch. In the case of the 9.2, since it is just a sheet and they don't have to fit a frame they can make yours to the same dimension they make mine to. I sent them exact dimensions and also told them I'd drive mine to them to save shipping. So you can potentially save $50 on shipping if I drag mine there.

They can probably cut the side ports too, including the hole for the Beckson port, if you include it in your template or send them the new port.

I suggest you make a sunbrella cover to protect your companionway hatch from crazing. Lucky for me the PO of my boat made a new one, but said it was a royal pain and cost him a lot of time and a couple of grand. From what I recall he had to buid a woden jig to heat bend the big acrylic sheet, find a shop with an oven big enough, then it had to be machined to fit. So protect yours!

By the way...

...if you short cut the side port installation and skip roughing up the bonding surfaces your new ports WILL POP OUT. I saw a 9.2A in RI with its brand new ports lying on the decks two years ago. It is probably still there.

I'll post the cost

Hey how much for the front hatch? How thick- I think mine are 3/4".
I'll post the cost and see how many takers there are when I get a hold of select. Otherwise we should go in on a sheet of 3/4 together. Won't be cheap though!

Anyone in the southern or midcoast area of Maine might like to contact Brian at Marine Ecological Habitats (207) 284-9694 for forward hatch replacement (and ports for that matter). I took the hatch from my 8.6 in on Monday and it was perfectly reproduced and all holes drilled on Wednesday for $131.25. Replacing all the screws, barrel nuts, bolts, and cap nuts cost less than $10 at Hamilton Marine. The material used was 3/4 inch Acrylite GP which seems to have amazing properties for this kind of application. Because they build a lot of aquariums Marine Ecological always has spare pieces of the 3/4 inch Acrylite on hand so you don't have to buy a full sheet.

I wonder if you can use clear, if necessary and put an automotic window tint film on the interior?
