I have purchased a 1989 30 ft Hunter and the transmission cable has recently broke at the Clevis at the top of the steering column. I have disconnected it at the transmission and found that in the steering column the cable sleeve is held in place by a clamp that can not be excessed from the top after removal of the compass. Before I continue on does the pedistal have to be completely removed to replace this cable? If so how to I get to the clamp to remove teh cotter pin to pull the cable through. Maybe I am overlooking something here. Has anyone else ran into this problem before?
