Need to replace interior cushions, all of them, on 1988 original interior. What's best and cheapest way to do this short of making them yourself? Anyone have any good sources of production cushions for C-30?

Can you re-use the foam

I have heard that this will save you big $ if you can use the existing foam and just re-cover it. If it is in good shape and not mildew stained. Other than that I don't know how else to save money!

I replaced the interior cushions on my Catalina 27 last year. I shopped around but found Catalina the best place to buy. They were amoung the cheaper estimates also. They boxed them up and shipped them form California to Florida along with a boat deliverly. I paid $100 bucks for the large shipping box and when I saw the box I was surprised. It was made from scrap interior wood from new boats. You can keep the shipping box and I tell you, the box was made of very nice cabinet wood! I was very happy with the deal, the only problem I have is getting rid of the old Catalina 27 interior cushions. They are way to nice to throw out and I can't find a local buyer. anyway, call the Catalina parts #. I found them very helpful. Good luck, jack

Re-cover

The berth cushions on my C-28 mk2 were badly stained by the previous owner. The cushions are fine. I am replacing the covers for the v-berth and aft berth by a local non-marine upholstery place that will put on the covers I like with higher quality fabric and vinyl. Between the cost of fabric and her labor, it will come out to be about $1700 less than it would have cost to buy from Catalina. Catalina only sells all cushions and covers as a set - you can't purchase piecemeal, and I believe you're stuck with their pink/blue/grey swirl pattern.

I replaced all the cushions in my '77 C30 years ago when we first bought her. I shopped around and decided to go with buying them direct from Catalina. First let me stress that if it's time for new cushions you mosly likely need need foam. Do go cheap and not replace the foam! Catalina has all the specs on your boat, you'll get perfectly fitting cushions. They sent mine over in a boat being shipped across country, didn't cost me a dime in shipping and I saved over $1000 buying direct as opposed to having them made/fitted locally.

If I ever Replace my salon cushions

I think that I would like to have the covers made of ultra-suede, similar to what they are using for cushions on newer boats. The material seems heavy and also very soft. I wonder what it would cost to have this done. Probably pretty pricy.
