Over 25 yrs ago I iinstalled a wind/ speed unit on my Oday 26.
The unit since failed and I can not replace the unit as the mfg is no longer in business.
I forgot how to remove the top mast plate to replace the mast head unit.
There are two bolts on the side and two screws on the top, which I can not turn the screws.
I need to get that top plate off for my replacement work.
Need help

On my Z-Spar internal halyard mast, they installed two bent 5/16" bolts through each side of the mast with the threaded bolt protruding through two holes in the mast head cap for the nuts and washers. Maybe your mast head is attached in a similar way.

In the pic, you can see the head of the bolt in the side of my mast on this side. There is also another bolt on the other side. This is what holds the mast head to my mast.

Thank You, Joe

I think i will have to deal with the bolts(2) on the side as the top screws are too tight!
Thanks,
John

I would try to get the screws out John. Soak them with WD-40. You could also take a screw driver and hold on the screw head and add a little heat from a torch to the shaft of the driver. Then try turning it easy with some down pressure. If you can get it to move, keep on working the screw back and forth until you're able to remove it.

If that don't work, get an impact cordless electric drill with a driver bit and set the clutch. The constant banging of this bit will usually free up the screw. Actually, I'd rather use an impact Makita drill than an impact screw driver. I've used both and the drill is easier.

Remove the bolt that goes through the mast and the whole thing should come out then you can maybe deal with it easier. Looks like mine but I don't remember two bolts just one.

I got it
Was able to get the top screws out by WD-40 and light tap with a hammer.
Once I got the top off, I was on my way
Thanks
